Naomi Rutledge

Engineer Manager | The New York Times

My road to coding was rather winding, twisting through liquor sales, bike share operations and sex-positive media outlets before arriving at coding.

I heard about coding bootcamps from a passenger while driving for Uber/Lyft and attending one really changed my life. From the coding bootcamp I was hired at Hearst in the Newspapers division but was able to transfer into their Magazines division to become a web game developer. My prior management experience allowed me to become an Engineering Manager about 2 years after becoming a Software Engineer.

I now work at The New York Times and have managed a few teams there, including the team that sent the push notification to break the news that Trump had lost the 2020 elections.

In my free time I train Muay Thai and bike. I’m from Dallas but have been in NYC for 5 years and currently live in the Bronx.
